Montauk Fun – Cyril’s Fish House

MontaukCyril'sOur first stop in Montauk was Cyril’s for their famous BBC! What is a BBC you ask? It’s Bailey’s, banana, and cream (frequently ordered with a rum floater), and it is the quintessential summer drink. Cyril claims to have invented it, but I can’t confirm or deny this rumor, all I know is that I love it!! It’s cool, creamy, and just a mouthful of summer time :).

Cyril'sBBCWe started off with an appetizer to share – the Soft Clam Bellies. They were definitely less chewy than fried clams, but also more briney. They tasted like they had just been pulled out of the ocean.

CyrilsClamBelliesSince it was our first meal in Montauk, I had to go for the Lobster Roll. Although it was quite fresh, it wasn’t the best I’d ever had. There was a little too much dill, and the lobster was more shredded as opposed to large chunks which I prefer.

The girls ordered a variety of ocean side favorites – The Fried Shrimp Basket

CyrilsFriedShrimpThe Soft Shelled Crab Sandwich, which my cousin gave me a bite of and I thought was the best thing I tried. It was nice and crispy and I really enjoyed the spicy aioli.

CyrilsSoftShellCrabSandwichThe traditional Fish & Chips – which my friend said was a little bland, but perfectly fried.

CyrilsFish&ChipsAnd lastly P got the Fried Flounder Sandwich and noted that the flounder itself was a little bland as well.

CyrilsFlounderSandwichOk so the food wasn’t spectacular, but that’s not really why you go to Cyril’s anyway. Actually this was my first time there during the week, and I couldn’t believe there was actually breathing room. The place is usually packed with weekend revelers drinking and dancing (yes, there’s a DJ) in the gravel parking lot. So although we didn’t get to experience the typical Cyril’s, we still had a great time!
