Nestled in a little courtyard in between the Palm Beach Fire Department and the historic Palm Beach Inn, you will find Sandwiches by the Sea, an island favorite. Going to this place is like stepping back in time for me. When I was a growing up I would frequently stop by to grab a hoagie and head to the beach for some fun in the sun with the girls. That’s the great thing about living in Palm Beach, you can pretty much walk everywhere and feel safe, even for a bunch of pre adolescent girls going to watch the surfers at Flag Pole . Ok enough for the trip down memory lane….
My mom and I headed to Sandwiches by the Sea at my request on our way to the beach on my most recent visit. Since I am a New Yorker now, I decided to go for the New Yorker Hoagie which consisted of ham, turkey, coleslaw, and Russian dressing. It was just as good as I remembered it! The hoagie was soft, the deli meat was fresh and the coleslaw gave it a nice crunch while the Russian dressing gave it a tangy kick. I almost ate the entire thing!
A better view of the layers of yumminess…
And possibly the best part was the view! This cute little spot is only a block from the beach, and their sandwiches make a great seaside picnic. But don’t forget to bring cash because they don’t take credit cards!
